Dr. Bartels Education & Professional Credentials

Dr. Bartels earned his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, where he also completed a B.S. in Visual Science. He holds a B.S. in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, as well as an A.A. in Liberal Studies from Indian River Community College.

He is board certified by the Florida Board of Optometry (2003).

Life Beyond the Clinic

When he’s not serving patients, Dr. Bartels enjoys fishing, diving, and traveling. Most of all, he values time with his wife Rachel and their two daughters, Carley and Olivia—who are his greatest inspiration and support system.

Dr. Bartels believes in building genuine relationships with his patients and delivering vision care with honesty, clarity, and compassion. His lifelong connection to Okeechobee makes him not just your doctor—but your neighbor and friend.
